Chakaiseki Akiyoshi is a Japanese restaurant in Paris dedicated to introducing the traditional cuisine and culture of Kyoto to an international audience. Its speciality, chakaiseki, is a seasonal culinary art inspired by Japanese aesthetics and the tea ceremony, designed to bring out the natural flavours of carefully selected ingredients. The restaurant avoids excessive seasoning and presents each course as part of a thoughtfully composed meal, served with artistically valued tableware.
Chef Yuichiro Akiyoshi trained for ten years at Kyoto’s Hyotei restaurant before serving Japanese cuisine for three years as head chef at the OECD embassy in Paris. The restaurant offers counter seating, where guests can watch the chef work, as well as tables suited to relaxed meals with family and friends. Its interior and architecture were created by Japanese sukiya carpenters to evoke an authentic Japanese setting.
Alongside restaurant dining, Chakaiseki Akiyoshi offers gift vouchers and has promoted seasonal items and takeaway options, including osechi sets and saba sushi. The restaurant is located at 59 Rue Letellier in Paris.
