Chalets De Répit

Chalets de Répit Saint-Michel is an association offering restorative stays to families affected by disability. Created in response to the exhaustion many families experience and the difficulty of finding suitable places to rest, the initiative provides adapted accommodation in the peaceful setting of the Écrins Massif in France. Its chalets are intended primarily for families with an autistic child, as well as people with disabilities, including wheelchair users. Depending on availability, they may also welcome people seeking respite because of convalescence, chronic illness or burnout.

The accommodation is designed with comfort, calm and safety in mind, particularly for children who are sensitive to external stimulation. Features described include a quiet, secure environment, rooms isolated from electromagnetic waves, simple and sturdy furnishings, locked windows and an enclosed garden. The association’s aim is to give families time to breathe, rest and enjoy a change of surroundings together. People can support its work by volunteering to help welcomed families or by making a donation.
