FL Chalk Artists

Chalk Art Nation (CAN) is a 501(c)(3) organization that promotes chalk art as a public and performing art. Its work highlights the distinctive experience of watching artists create on streets and sidewalks, where audiences become part of the creative process. CAN collaborates with service clubs, community groups, and art associations to present chalk art through festivals, shows, demonstrations, and other public and private events. These activities introduce people to chalk as an artistic medium and share the history of street painters, known as madonnari.

CAN also supports artists through membership and professional development. Members receive a quarterly newsletter and may participate in the organization’s chalk artist awards, as well as events and art shows held throughout the year. For artists seeking to develop and demonstrate their skills, CAN offers a professional certification program with three levels: Semplice, Qualificato, and Maestro.
