Chameleon Camps

Chameleon Camps is a student-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Sammamish, Washington, that helps young people build a meaningful connection with the environment. Founded in 2024, the organization offers hands-on environmental science workshops, projects, and school chapters designed to make learning engaging and memorable. Its approach aims to spark curiosity and wonder through real-world experiences, offering an alternative to more conventional classes such as coding.

Chameleon Camps reports reaching more than 2,000 children, creating five projects, and raising $20,000. Its work includes environmental technology initiatives, including A Breath of Fresh Air, and activities connected to nature and local environmental issues. The organization has partnered with Cornell University, REV Ithaca, and the Issaquah Salmon Hatchery. Workshops are described as returning soon, while school chapters provide another way for students to take part. Chameleon Camps is committed to accessible, engaging environmental education and acknowledges the Coast Salish peoples, including the Snoqualmie Indian Tribe, on whose Indigenous land it operates.
