Champion Athletes

Champion Athletes of the Ozarks is a community organization in Springfield, Missouri, dedicated to helping children and adults with disabilities thrive. Through sports, education, healthy-living activities, and life skills programs, it aims to build self-esteem, confidence, independence, and social and vocational abilities. Its programs are free, and necessary equipment is provided.

Athletes can take part in basketball, bowling, pickleball, soccer, Pound Fitness, and water aerobics. Several sports offer seasonal leagues and opportunities to compete in tournaments. Water aerobics runs year-round and uses low-impact exercises to support coordination, balance, flexibility, and strength. Life skills programs include classes on reading, money, healthy snacking, and safety, as well as monthly social gatherings that reinforce learning through games and activities.

Champion Athletes also creates opportunities for participants to gain real job experience and develop everyday skills. The organization welcomes volunteers and invites community members to support its work through donations, sponsorships, partnerships, and fundraising events. Participation requires appropriate forms, including a current sports physical, and athlete registration.
