Changing for Good is a counselling service that supports men who want to build and maintain healthy, respectful relationships. Its Violence Prevention Program is designed for men who have not used physical violence in their relationships but are concerned that their thoughts or behaviour could escalate. The free program runs for two months and provides four phone counselling sessions, scheduled every two weeks with a professional counsellor.

Sessions help participants understand how their behaviour affects others, recognise triggers, explore the emotions behind anger, and develop practical strategies for responding safely to conflict. Counsellors work with each participant on personal goals and an action plan, while building self-awareness, communication skills and responsible behaviour. The support can also help strengthen relationships with partners, children, friends and work colleagues.

Men can apply by submitting an Expression of Interest Form for review by the Changing for Good team. The service also provides information about other support options, including Men’s Behaviour Change Programs for people who are currently using physical violence.
