Chapel Forge Farriers

Chapel Forge Farriers is an equine hoof-care business based in Upper Lambourn, serving horse owners across West Berkshire, Wiltshire and Oxfordshire, as well as clients further afield. Established in 1986, the business combines traditional farriery with modern techniques and materials, tailoring care to each animal’s needs. Its services include routine hoof trimming and maintenance, private shoeing at homes and livery yards, and specialist remedial and corrective work to address imbalances, limb problems, injuries or other concerns.

The team works with horses, ponies and donkeys, and provides hoof care for foals and yearlings, racing yards, studs and professional competition yards. Founder Gary developed particular expertise in foals and young horses with angular limb deformities, and works alongside veterinary practices when needed. Chapel Forge also supports regular shoe maintenance for racehorses, show jumpers and eventers, with attention to hoof balance, comfort and performance. The business values clear communication and collaborative care, and has a long-standing commitment to training: Gary has been an Approved Training Farrier for 30 years and has trained more than 70 apprentices.
