About Chapel Hill Garden Club
The Chapel Hill Garden Tour is an annual event hosted by the Chapel Hill Garden Club, showcasing distinctive gardens and celebrating horticulture, landscape design, preservation, and sustainability. The 2026 tour, titled “Sculpted & Soaring Skyward,” took place April 25 and 26 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. It offered visitors access to five unique private gardens featuring spring blooms, mature trees, striking rock formations, and varied design approaches. Highlights included a certified wildlife and butterfly sanctuary, a Japanese-inspired garden, and a collection of plants described as a collector’s paradise. Some garden features were on the National Historic Register, and knowledgeable experts were available periodically at tour locations.
The event also included public gardens: the North Carolina Botanical Garden, its affiliated Carolina Community Garden, and the American Indian Cultural Garden. The tour website provides information and photographs for these sites and several private gardens, including Allison, Gourley, Huckshorn, King, and McGraw. It also features plant information and acknowledges the sponsors supporting the event.
