Character Creation Cast

Character Creation Cast is a podcast dedicated to exploring tabletop role-playing games through the process of creating characters. Founded in early 2018 by lifelong Wisconsinites Ryan Boelter and Amelia Antrim, the show brings together its co-hosts, guests, and experts from the role-playing game community to examine how different systems work and what players can expect when they play them. Episodes use character creation as a practical lens for discussing game mechanics, design choices, and the kinds of decisions each game makes possible.

The hosts also talk with guests about their experiences with the games they explore, highlighting what they enjoy and, where relevant, what may be less successful. Alongside its main episodes, the podcast features a monthly Character Evolution Cast focused on helping players develop their playstyles. Character Creation Cast offers an approachable introduction to unfamiliar role-playing games while also providing thoughtful design insights for experienced players, game creators, and anyone interested in building memorable characters
