Charity Wizard is an editorial directory focused on US charitable organizations and the wider American nonprofit sector. Its database lists more than 1.8 million 501(c)(3) organizations across 56 states and territories, drawing on live IRS Publication 78 data and a historical archive from 2013. Visitors can browse organizations by state or territory, then explore city-level directories and charity listings that include deductibility classifications. Listings for active organizations link to financial information on ProPublica’s Form 990 records, helping users follow up with public nonprofit data.

Alongside its directory, Charity Wizard publishes editorial coverage of policy, regulation, and structural changes affecting charitable giving. Its archive spans articles published since 2008, with recent topics including charitable deduction policy, artificial intelligence in fundraising, cybersecurity, donor-advised funds, and qualified charitable distributions. The site brings searchable organizational information and sector journalism together in one resource for people researching US charities and nonprofit developments. Its content is aggregated from public IRS data and presented with state-based browsing tools and historical context.
