About Fondation Charles de Gaulle
The Charles de Gaulle Foundation is a French public-interest foundation dedicated to preserving the memory of General Charles de Gaulle and sharing his intellectual and cultural legacy. Established as an institute in 1971, it became a foundation recognized as being of public utility in 1992. Since 2005, it has been the national institution recognized by the French State to carry out this mission.
Its work is organized around university research and political reflection, educational activities, public engagement, and promoting the legacy internationally. The Foundation offers educational resources and organizes commemorations, events, and other activities for audiences in France and abroad. Its website shares news and information about General de Gaulle, associated historical sites, and André Malraux, the Foundation’s first president.
Visitors can also access its digital newsletter, YouTube channel, and Espoir journal, and explore the Foundation’s shop. Through research, learning, publications, and public events, the organization aims to pass on a historically grounded understanding of de Gaulle’s legacy to future generations, independently of partisan debate
