About Château des Bachelards
Château des Bachelards is a historic wine estate in Fleurie, in the northern Beaujolais, less than an hour from Lyon. Founded around 1100 by Benedictine monks of Cluny, the estate spans 12 hectares, including five hectares beside the château in the Fleurie appellation, with additional vineyards in Beaujolais Villages, Saint-Amour and Moulin-à-Vent. It has farmed without chemical inputs since 2007 and holds organic certification as well as Demeter and Biodyvin biodynamic certifications.
The estate’s work centers on respecting its terroir and vineyard ecosystems, with Gamay as its principal grape. Its wines are made and aged with care, expressing the character of the region’s soils and historic vineyards. Visitors are welcome throughout the year for tours of the château and winemaking facilities, guided tastings and personalized experiences.
Options include food and wine pairings, picnics, gourmet meals, and bespoke events for businesses or private celebrations. Through its online shop, Château des Bachelards also offers a selection of organic and biodynamic wines from different vintages
