Château le Payral is a family wine estate in Saussignac, near Bergerac in southwestern France, where Isabelle and Thierry Daulhiac produce wines shaped by the local terroir. Thierry took over the estate in 1992, continuing a winemaking legacy spanning six generations. Guided by a commitment to authenticity and respect for the land, the estate converted to organic farming, achieved organic certification in 2005, and received Demeter biodynamic certification in 2018.
The winery offers several ranges: Les Traditionnels, fresh and aromatic wines in three colors intended for youthful enjoyment; Les Cuvées, representing the Bergerac appellations; Les Plus que Nature, made in a more “sober” style; and Les Originales, distinctive creations. Its biodynamic wines are suited to occasions ranging from aperitifs to dessert, and include a pét-nat cuvée. Products are available through sales points across France and are also exported internationally. Château le Payral shares updates on vineyard work, seasonal challenges, harvests, and biodynamic practices through its “Défis du Payral” logbook, and welcomes inquiries about its wines and estate.
