Château de l’Islette is a Renaissance château in the Touraine region of France, set among the waterways and greenery of the Indre Valley. The historic residence is known as a place where sculptors Camille Claudel and Auguste Rodin stayed during the 1890s. Rodin worked on his sculpture Balzac there, while Claudel created La Petite Châtelaine; a bronze of the latter is permanently displayed inside the château.
Today, the château’s owners welcome visitors to explore rooms that remain part of their home, offering a distinctive encounter between history and contemporary château life. The grounds invite guests to picnic beside the river, relax outdoors and enjoy the peaceful setting. Visitors can also rent boats to explore the Indre, which flows through the estate, and take part in activities including an escape game and access to wooden games.
The château offers experiences for families, groups and school visits, alongside seasonal events and exhibitions.
