CHAT

The Children's Hospital Association of Texas (CHAT) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing the health and well-being of children. Their mission is to advocate for policies and secure funding that promote children's access to high-quality and comprehensive healthcare.

Since its establishment in 1989, CHAT has worked collaboratively with trade associations, advocacy groups, state agencies, and the Texas Legislature to achieve its goals and public policy objectives. It was formed in response to crises in state child health programs, including cutbacks in the "Crippled Children's" program, payment reductions under the initial Medicaid hospital payment system, and Medicaid cost containment efforts.

CHAT's primary focus is to educate and advocate for the value of children's hospitals in Texas. They highlight the exceptional care provided, the training and expertise of their specialists, and the critical need for designated funding. Texas is recognized worldwide for its children's hospitals' high-quality and specialized care, attracting individuals from across the country and beyond.
