The Anil Agarwal Foundation (AAF), the social impact branch of Vedanta Ltd., is leading transformative initiatives aimed at enhancing animal welfare in Goa. Recently, AAF partnered with the Government of Goa to combat rabies through a groundbreaking project called The Animal Care Organization (TACO). This project includes establishing a state-of-the-art animal welfare center in Bicholim Taluka, focused on providing comprehensive care and vaccination for stray dogs and cats.

The center will feature an Animal Birth Control (ABC) facility to promote spaying and neutering, alongside essential anti-rabies vaccination drives. Extending its mission, TACO will also include a fully equipped veterinary hospital, advanced diagnostic services, and a training facility to empower local communities and veterinarians. By addressing the growing stray dog population—reported to have surged by over 70%—this initiative not only curtails public health risks but also enhances humane treatment of animals.
