About Cherokee Comm
Cherokee Communications, originally known as Cherokee Telephone Company, has been serving the community since 1959. Founded by Bill Young, a local veteran and family man, the company aimed to bring modern communication to Bryan County. Starting with simple magneto telephones, the company gradually upgraded to modern phone lines over the next two years.
Bill's son, Dr. James O. Young, took over leadership in 1993, expanding their services to more areas.
Cherokee Communications has been an innovator in technology, introducing touchtone systems, caller ID, and call waiting to rural communities. They were also the first in the area to offer IPTV in 2009 and fiber-to-the-home Internet in 2014, providing lightning-fast connections. As a family-owned company, Cherokee Communications is dedicated to serving the local community and constantly adapts to evolving technology.
