AXIA Nordeste is AXIA Energia’s regional operation, serving northeastern Brazil through electricity generation and transmission. Its history builds on decades of experience at Chesf, now AXIA Nordeste, and its work supports the integration of energy into Brazil’s National Interconnected System. The company operates hydroelectric plants along the São Francisco River, transmission systems, and energy expansion projects that contribute to national energy security and regional development.

Water management is central to its operations. AXIA Nordeste manages 10 reservoirs in the São Francisco, Parnaíba, de Contas, and Piranhas-Açu river basins, using hydrological monitoring and forecasting to guide planning and operations. Reservoir operations follow guidelines from Brazil’s water and electricity authorities and balance power generation with other water needs.

The company also emphasizes dam safety through continuous monitoring, preventive maintenance, regulatory compliance, and emergency action plans. Its environmental initiatives support protected areas, biodiversity, research, and sustainable resource use, including Fernando de Noronha Marine National Park, Atol das Rocas Biological Reserve, and Serra da Capivara National Park.
