Cheshire Hunt Conservancy (CHC) supports the preservation of open space and natural habitats in Southeastern Chester County, Pennsylvania. Its work continues a longstanding connection between foxhunting and land conservation, rooted in the history of Mr. Stewart’s Cheshire Foxhounds, established in 1914. The Conservancy brings together members and subscribers to help protect the area’s rural landscape, working alongside public organizations such as the Brandywine Conservancy and Cheshire Land Preservation Fund.
CHC’s programs combine conservation, education, and community participation. Educational initiatives support the breeding and training of foxhounds, the study of red foxes and their habitats, and the practice of hunting with a pack. Through Mr. Stewart’s Cheshire Foxhounds, qualified participants can take part in foxhunting guided by standards intended to protect animals, land, and people. Young Rider Programs teach riding skills alongside horse and hound care, personal discipline, group participation, and respect for property. The organization also shares events, news, membership information, and merchandise through its website, connecting supporters with the hunt and its conservation mission.
