About Chess Kenya
Chess Kenya Federation (CKF) is the national organisation dedicated to promoting and coordinating chess in Kenya. Established in 1976 under the Societies Act as the Kenya Chess Association, it has supported the development of the sport for nearly five decades and serves players and other chess stakeholders across the country. Its work is guided by patriotism, diligence, professionalism, integrity, equal opportunity and fairness.
CKF manages chess activities and competitions, including the Premier League and other league divisions, and publishes event schedules, standings and news. Players, clubs, arbiters, trainers and organisers can access registration and membership information, while county associations and clubs connect the federation with chess communities around Kenya. The federation also promotes development through initiatives such as the Elite Academy and chess programmes in refugee camps, slums and prisons, alongside activities addressing mental health. Its website provides information about leadership, committees, financials, jobs and ways to donate. By organising events and supporting players at different levels, CKF works to expand participation and advance Kenyan chess nationally and internationally.
