Chester City Baths is a historic swimming and community venue in Chester, combining Victorian heritage with a welcoming, inclusive approach to health and recreation. One of the country’s oldest functioning Victorian baths, it is a charity run by volunteers, supported by paid lifeguards and a pool manager. Its naturally lit 25-yard pool provides a distinctive setting for swimmers of different ages and abilities, from competitive athletes to people swimming for leisure and fitness.

The Baths offer adult leisure swimming, memberships, children’s weekly lessons, intensive courses, coaching, and one-to-one or small-group swimming lessons. Schools and clubs can arrange pool hire, while the venue also provides swimming teacher and NPLQ lifeguard qualifications. Its facilities host community groups including the City of Chester Swimming Club, City of Chester Waterpolo Club, Chester Sub-Aqua Club, and Chester Triathlon Club. Additional amenities include conference rooms, a bar and hangout area, and free Wi-Fi. Chester City Baths also welcomes donations, volunteers, fundraising, and sponsorship to help maintain the pool and preserve its historic building.
