About Chest Foundation of India
Chest Foundation of India (CFI) is a registered non-profit trust launched in October 2006 to raise awareness of respiratory diseases and improve their management within the community. Its work addresses conditions including asthma, tuberculosis (TB), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and lung cancer. CFI grew from the Asthma Foundation of India, which operated from March 1998 to October 2006 with a focus on asthma. The organization expanded its remit in response to the need to address other respiratory diseases that contribute to significant illness and death in India.
The Trust is run by people from both the medical and non-medical communities. Its Managing Trustee is Dr. Raj B. Singh, a senior respiratory consultant at Apollo Hospitals. CFI’s stated activities include education and awareness related to chest and respiratory health, with the aim of helping communities better understand these diseases and their management. Its website also provides information about the Foundation, its objectives and trustees, along with details of its services and activities.
