ChezaCheza is a Kenyan not-for-profit organization that was founded in 2018. Our mission is to create access to safe spaces for children in marginalized communities, where dance supports their mental health and well-being. We are committed to using dance as therapy to improve the mental health of children in Kenya.

Did you know that 1.3 million children in Kenya between 10-19 years old struggle with mental health? To address this issue, ChezaCheza has developed a robust dance therapy curriculum. Through our therapeutic dance sessions, children experience the joy of dancing while developing strong minds. They gain self-esteem, high self-awareness, and the ability to approach life's challenges with responsible actions.

We find, train, and equip dancers from marginalised communities to become Community-Based Dance Coaches. These coaches create safe spaces in their communities and schools, providing child-friendly, fun, and culturally appropriate mental health services through weekly therapeutic dance sessions. Each session incorporates Dance Movement Therapy, Social-Emotional Learning, and Mindfulness Meditation.
