**Brand Description**
Barry A. Fleig is a prominent authority on cemeteries and burial sites, particularly in the Chicago area. A resident for over fifty years, Fleig's passion for exploring the historical and contemporary aspects of cemeteries began in 1967, when he researched his own family history. His expertise shines through in his work with local organizations, including the Chicago Genealogical Society and the Association for the Ethical Protection of Burial Sites. Specializing in vanished cemeteries, Fleig has uncovered significant sites such as the Cook County Cemetery at Dunning, where he documented over 38,000 burials across a vast area.
Fleig not only educates the public through his dedicated website, "Chicago and Cook County Cemeteries," but also consults with governmental bodies on cemetery preservation. Now residing in Arizona, he continues to share his knowledge and assist those pursuing family genealogy with ties to Chicago. His commitment to uncovering and preserving burial sites makes him a vital resource for history enthusiasts and researchers alike.
