About Chicago Film Archives
Chicago Film Archives (CFA) is a non-profit institution dedicated to preserving and cataloguing over five thousand 16mm films that reflect the history and culture of Chicago and the Midwest. Founded in 2003 by Director Nancy Watrous and a team of film archivists, CFA aims to conserve, promote, and exhibit moving image materials unique to the region. In addition to professional films that highlight the region's history and artistic expressions, CFA has also started a program to collect amateur and home movies to shed light on a lesser-known aspect of filmmaking.
CFA is committed to preserving the past by securing funding for film restoration and preservation. Through their Collections Portal, over 1500 films can now be streamed online, ensuring access to a wider audience. CFA relies on the support of the Chicago and Illinois communities to continue their important work.
