Chicago Restaurant Inspections is an independent information website that helps diners explore food safety inspection reports for restaurants and other food establishments in Chicago. It presents inspection data sourced from the Chicago Open Data Portal and the Chicago Department of Public Health, organizing reports so users can search establishments, review recent results, and find failed inspections. Listings include business names, inspection dates, locations, inspection types, and outcomes such as pass, fail, pass with conditions, or no entry. Where available, the site also displays violation details and inspectors’ comments, offering context about reported food safety concerns.

Visitors can browse information about high-risk facilities and explore listings by neighborhood, cuisine, transit, or violation. The site also offers free inspection alerts, including daily or weekly notifications about failed inspections, a weekly email roundup, and alerts tracking a selected restaurant’s inspection results. It notes that city data may appear 7 to 12 days after an inspection.
