Founded in 2023 in San Diego by Reyes Rodriguez, known as Mr. Lil One, the Chicano Music Festival (CMF) is a traveling cultural platform celebrating and advancing the depth and diversity of Chicano culture. Through large-scale events in multiple cities, CMF brings cross-generational audiences together and presents Chicano identity as a living, evolving culture. Its programming balances two pillars: preserving traditional roots, legacy performers, and historical culture, while encouraging experimental music, digital art, technology, and new creative ideas.
More than a concert, each festival gathering offers a curated range of cultural experiences and attractions, including lowriders, live art, poetry, Aztec dancers, mariachis, and specialized vendors. CMF’s events and initiatives aim to honor the past while creating space for contemporary expression and future innovation. The organization is led by a team overseeing festival operations, expansion, partnerships, and creative development. Founded by a Chicano hip-hop artist and community advocate, CMF also emphasizes community outreach and empowering the next generation.
