Association Chiens Guides d’Aquitaine – Centre Aliénor is a nonprofit organization based in Mérignac, near Bordeaux, dedicated to supporting people who are blind or visually impaired. It trains guide dogs and provides them free of charge to eligible beneficiaries, then continues to support each partnership throughout the dog’s working life, up to retirement. The association’s work spans the guide dog’s journey, from puppy socialization and education to matching dogs with beneficiaries and helping established teams thrive.
Its approach includes positive training and guidance for people considering whether a guide dog is right for them. Foster families play an essential role by caring for puppies and helping them become comfortable in everyday life; the association actively seeks new volunteers for this mission. It also shares information through news, educational resources, events and stories about guide dog partnerships.
Individuals, schools and businesses can support its work through donations, volunteering, fundraising and partnerships
