CHIETA

CHIETA (Chemical Industries Education & Training Sector Authority) is a South African statutory body established under the Skills Development Act 97 of 1998. It supports skills development across the chemical industries by identifying sector needs and helping employers, learners, training providers and other stakeholders address them. Its work includes skills planning and research, qualification development, strategic projects and grants, and quality assurance through its Education and Training Quality Assurance function.

CHIETA offers discretionary and mandatory grants, and supports apprenticeships, learnerships, skills programmes and recognition of prior learning. It also provides workplace approval and provider accreditation, alongside guidance for assessors and moderators. Its learnerships and other youth programmes aim to strengthen employability among unemployed young people.

Employers can apply for grant funding during advertised application periods, while training providers can access accreditation information and quality assurance support. CHIETA also publishes skills plans, annual reports, policy documents and stakeholder updates, and provides career guidance, procurement information and industry news through its online platforms
