Childline Mpumalanga is a child-protection organisation working to prevent abuse and promote the welfare and rights of children across Mpumalanga, South Africa. Its mission is to help build a safe and stable future for children through accessible support, community engagement and advocacy.
A central service is its free, 24-hour crisisline at 116, where children and family members can reach trained staff for counselling, information and assistance. Childline’s social workers investigate reports of neglect, abuse, abandonment, harmful living conditions and serious behavioural concerns. They also provide therapeutic counselling and support to children who have experienced trauma, as well as to their caregivers.
The organisation offers early-intervention and family services, gender-based violence prevention and care, and support for orphaned and vulnerable children. Its community, school and child-development programmes include therapeutic and extra-mural activities, arts and culture, indigenous games and holiday programmes. Childline also provides training and capacity building for children, communities and child-related stakeholders, and shares practical information through its website and social media.
