Founded in 1998, the Chimpanzee Sanctuary & Wildlife Conservation Trust is a Ugandan nonprofit dedicated to chimpanzee welfare, habitat protection, and public awareness. The Trust manages Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary on Lake Victoria, where it cares for rescued and orphaned chimpanzees in a forest setting, providing food, veterinary care, rehabilitation, integration, and safety. Its work also extends to field conservation in Uganda’s Albertine Rift, including community engagement, efforts to address human-wildlife conflict, and support for alternative livelihoods.

The Trust advances its mission through sanctuary care, environmental education, and wildlife conservation. Education initiatives include school outreach and programs that bring environmental learning into primary and secondary curricula. Supporters can donate, adopt a chimpanzee, volunteer, or contribute through fundraising and other giving options.

Visitors can book half- or full-day trips to Ngamba Island, watch chimpanzee feeding sessions, and explore the sanctuary. The Ngamba Ecolodge offers overnight stays in tented cottages, with experiences such as sunset cruises and bonfires.
