Chinook Kendo Dojo is a Calgary, Alberta, martial arts school founded in 2004 and dedicated to teaching Kendo, the Japanese art of fencing. Rooted in samurai tradition, Kendo is described by the dojo as fast and intense, while training develops discipline, focus, spirit, and character. Chinook Kendo emphasizes hard work, respect, perseverance, community, and enjoying the learning process.
The dojo welcomes complete beginners as well as experienced practitioners, with classes for beginners and juniors, regular training, open practice, and sessions open to all members. Classes take place on Mondays and Wednesdays, with an additional all-members class on Sundays; there are no classes on statutory holidays. New students are accepted at the start of the winter, spring/summer, and fall terms, and trial classes are offered during each term’s first month.
