About Chapter House Journal
Chapter House is an online literary journal that promotes the ideals and vision of the Institute of American Indian Arts (IAIA) Low Residency MFA Program. Publishing on a rolling basis, the journal presents creative work and conversations from Indigenous and other writers through stories, poetry, interviews, reviews, essays, and blog features. Its issues are organized by season and year, with an archive spanning 2015 to 2026, allowing readers to explore writing across a range of themes and forms.
Chapter House also highlights literary achievement through prizes and nominations. Its 2026 Summer issue features the inaugural Indigenous Prize for Creative Nonfiction, with work selected by guest judge Cynthia J. Sylvester. The journal’s editorial team includes dedicated editors and readers, with support from the IAIA MFA director. Readers can browse current and past issues, explore StoryCorner and other sections, and contact the journal or submit work through its website. Through this publishing platform, Chapter House supports literary expression and shares stories shaped by Indigenous perspectives, culture, identity, and relationships with the natural and celestial worlds.
