About ChlamDB
ChlamDB is a scientific database for comparative genomics across the Chlamydiae and the broader Planctomycetes–Verrucomicrobia–Chlamydiae (PVC) superphylum. It brings together 277 PVC genomes and provides researchers with tools to explore genome relationships, gene content, and evolutionary patterns. The database identifies orthologous proteins using OrthoFinder and offers detailed annotations drawn from resources including KEGG, COG, STRING, PRIAM, TCDB, SwissProt, InterProScan, and DOOR.
Users can search genes and proteins, run sequence similarity searches, retrieve sequences, and compare genomes through orthogroups, functional classifications, domains, pathways, and genome alignments. Additional features include phylogenetic reconstructions, conserved gene-neighborhood analysis, transporter annotations, metabolic maps, and tools for visualizing genomic regions and genome-wide relationships. Precomputed homology searches and literature references help connect protein records with related sequences and scientific publications. ChlamDB also provides genome data for browsing and download in formats such as GenBank and FASTA, alongside phylogenetic information and genome statistics. Developed as a resource for comparative analysis, the database supports investigation of shared and distinctive features among Chlamydiae and related PVC organisms.
