Choice Powers Change

Choice Powers Change Consulting is a consulting practice focused on helping people build meaningful community connections, exercise personal choice, and pursue individual empowerment. Its work centers on people with disabilities and the teams and organizations that support them, using person-centered, strengths-based approaches to improve quality of life and respond to changing regulations.

The consultancy teaches, trains, collaborates, and plans alongside individuals and support teams. Its services include building teams for transformation, incorporating person-centered philosophies and strengths-based management into service supports, shifting toward capacity-based planning, and identifying leadership to initiate change. Through interest-based exploration and personalized supports, the practice helps people develop reciprocal involvement in their communities.

Choice Powers Change is led by Rachael Newkirk and Marlene McCollum, whose experience includes regional center service coordination and case management supervision, direct support, vocational counseling, employment programs, early intervention, and services for seniors and women in crisis. The consultancy’s guiding beliefs emphasize meaningful choice, individual talents, supportive staff leadership, and inclusive communities.
