Chosen Narrative is a storytelling platform that explores the human experiences behind statistics, with a focus on incarceration, criminal justice, education, and reform. Its aim is to raise awareness of criminal justice issues around the world by sharing stories that connect social systems and policy with people’s lives. The platform publishes articles on topics including rehabilitation in South Africa, the country’s recidivism rate, and how differences in reoffending rates across countries can reflect links between legal policy and criminal behaviour. Its stories also consider life behind bars and broader questions about justice and social change.
Alongside its articles, Chosen Narrative features Voice of the Youth, a fiction novel by C. Boyers. Through both nonfiction stories and fiction, Chosen Narrative offers readers different perspectives on justice, rehabilitation, and the circumstances that shape people’s choices.
