Christian Spruner

SANBAO is a school for Taichi, Qigong and meditation in Ottensen, Hamburg, offering classes rooted in Chinese movement and mindfulness traditions. Its teaching focuses on cultivating vitality, balance and calm through practices that support the body, energy and mind. The school provides beginner courses in Taichi and Qigong three times a year, as well as ongoing classes, online courses and workshops.

Introductory courses are recognised as preventive health programmes and may be subsidised by statutory health insurers. SANBAO also offers instructor training in Taichi and Qigong, seminars with visiting teachers, and trips to China. Students can arrange a free trial session before joining.

The school’s spacious, welcoming rooms are available to rent for seminars and other gatherings. SANBAO is led by experienced instructors, including school director and trainer Christian Spruner von Mertz, who has taught Taichi and Qigong since 2000 and specialises in Zhaobao Taichi. The school presents these arts as practical ways to develop ease, awareness and inner steadiness, with principles that can also be carried into everyday life
