Christine Cloos is an artist whose work explores the forms, textures and energy of nature. Based in Giverny, her practice is shaped by the surrounding forests and the garden of Claude Monet, from small twigs to the silhouettes of mature trees and the layered growth of flowerbeds. She creates paintings by attaching natural-fiber papers to raw linen canvas and applying translucent oil glazes. Chance marks and varied surface effects become part of the process, gradually guided toward an intuitive vision of the natural world.
Her creations include series focused on birch trees, landscapes of the Beauce region, flowerbeds, weeping willows, waves and leaves, alongside sculptures and other works. The paintings range from close observations of tangled, structured vegetation to studies of the grace and apparent vulnerability of birches. Christine Cloos presents information about her artistic background, exhibitions and videos on her website, where visitors can also explore new work and collections.
