The Plano Police Association is a non-profit organization that runs the Christmas Cops program, which aims to assist less fortunate families in Plano during the Christmas season. This program is operated by Plano Police employees, volunteers, and their families. Throughout the year, police officers often come across families in need, but the need is particularly pronounced during the holiday season.
The Christmas Cops program serves a dual purpose: to help these less fortunate families during Christmas and to foster a positive relationship between the community and the Plano Police Department. Families in need are referred by Plano Police Department and other city employees and are then visited by a police officer to verify their need and ensure they are not receiving assistance from another agency. In November, collection boxes are placed at local businesses to gather toys, coats, food items, and household supplies, which are then sorted and distributed to families in need.
Since its establishment in 1984, this program has provided emergency assistance to numerous families, ensuring a brighter Christmas for those in need. By supporting the Plano Police Association, you contribute to building a safer and stronger community
