Christiansø Feltstation

Christiansø Naturvidenskabelige Feltstation (CHNF) is a nature research and monitoring station focused on the distinctive wildlife and habitats of the Ertholmene islands, including Christiansø. Its work includes monitoring and studying nature, with particular attention to birds. The station conducts bird ringing to track migration and population patterns, and has also fitted GPS devices or data loggers to species such as eiders, guillemots, razorbills and herring gulls.

It shares its work through educational activities, including presentations of ringed birds for residents, students and visitors, as well as guided experiences at the ringing nets. CHNF publishes observation records, activity reports and newsletters, offering access to information about its findings and work over time. The station invites the public to support its activities through annual membership or donations, which help fund bird ringing, nature monitoring and the recruitment of qualified ringers.

Members and supporters contribute to maintaining research and outreach on the islands, where the field station documents local wildlife and helps raise awareness of the area’s natural environment
