CHURAMURA- Okinawa Coastal Protection Alliance is a community-based volunteer NPO based in Yomitan, Okinawa, Japan that is dedicated to the conservation of Okinawa's coastal areas and protecting Okinawa's endangered sea turtles. Our mission is to improve the survivability of sea turtles hatching and traveling through Okinawa waterways and coastlines by raising awareness and support to mitigate factors leading to sea turtle population degradation. We are an independent all-volunteer non-profit organization founded in 2020 by local citizens. Please contact us if you are interested in volunteering or making a donation to support our work.

About CHURAMURA- Okinawa Coastal Protection
Chura-mura, an organization founded in early summer of 2020, is dedicated to the protection of sea turtles in Japan. With the aim of creating the very first marine sanctuary for sea turtles, Chura-mura is working tirelessly to ensure the preservation of these magnificent creatures. Located in Okinawa, the sanctuary will provide a safe haven for sea turtles and contribute to the conservation of their natural habitat.
Chura-mura offers various programs and activities to support their cause, including a Coastal Watch Program, monthly beach clean initiatives, and an adoption program for the Yomitan coastline. They also have an education program for community outreach and an Ocean Rangers program to educate youth on conservation work. You can help Chura-mura by signing their petition, donating to their cause, or volunteering for different positions.
