About CIAC MTL
The Centre international d’art contemporain de Montréal (CIAC) is a contemporary art organization established in 1983, dedicated to connecting Québec’s artistic heritage with contemporary and digital practices. Its work includes exhibitions, research, publications and online projects that make art and its history accessible to broad audiences. The CIAC presents projects associated with Les Cent jours d’art contemporain and the Biennale de Montréal, alongside artist interviews, catalogues, monographs and its electronic magazine.
Its digital initiatives explore subjects including the Automatistes, artist-designed wallpapers and artificial intelligence in artistic creation. The CIAC’s Fonds Paul-Émile Borduas brings together new writing and key references on the artist, including publications, archives and educational resources. The organization also shares podcasts, interactive maps and architectural walks, and publishes material on artists such as Françoise Sullivan.
Looking ahead, the CIAC is advancing a project to re-establish the Cité-du-Havre Arts Pavilion as a space devoted to the Automatistes. It supports its work through donations, sponsorships, memberships, newsletters and a shop offering artworks and publications.
