Welcome to the Centro de Investigação em Estudos da Criança (CIEC) at the Instituto de Educação, Universidade do Minho. Founded in 2011, our goal is to enhance the understanding of children's worlds through high-level research. We focus on contributing to children's development, learning, and well-being.

Our center values scientific research and advanced training for researchers and professionals working in childhood. With a multidisciplinary approach, we aim to provide holistic knowledge about children as social actors within society and culture. We consider perspectives from the adults who interact with children daily, such as educators, teachers, families, and care professionals.

CIEC also strategically promotes socially and politically relevant research to improve children's living conditions, especially in vulnerable contexts, and supports professionals working with children by studying their activity conditions and offering training and development opportunities.
