Cieli Azzurri ODV is a volunteer organisation based in Guidonia Montecelio, in the Metropolitan City of Rome. Established in 1996, it runs the local Day Centre for People with Disabilities, serving individuals with moderate to severe disabilities, including people with psychomotor developmental delays. The centre provides a semi-residential service within the area’s social care network, offering educational, social and assistance activities tailored to each person through individualised plans. Its approach also involves families, recognising their role in supporting participants’ wellbeing and development.
The organisation’s work is rooted in a family’s experience of disability. Its story began after Lucia, born with cerebral palsy in 1980, prompted her family to confront the challenges of care and seek a supportive path forward. That experience helped inspire the creation of a community-based service where people with disabilities and their families can find practical support and opportunities for connection. Cieli Azzurri invites people to contribute through donations, including Italy’s five-per-thousand tax allocation, and to join or support its activities.
