Cielito is a community that develops and operates fair, user-focused digital services as alternatives to business models that monetize personal data. Its approach combines free software with servers and other internet infrastructure that the community operates itself, emphasizing nearby, community-controlled technology. The services are associated with the University of the Republic of Uruguay (UdelaR), particularly its regional computing network, and support university groups, projects, institutions, and related communities.

Cielito provides web hosting, including a multisite service for creating and managing basic websites with available templates and content tools. Its offerings also include multimedia platforms based on PeerTube for sharing, documenting, commenting on, and live-streaming video; browser-based videoconferencing; and tools for creating surveys and forms. The underlying platform includes technical infrastructure such as domain name services and support for IPv4 and IPv6. Cielito also shares guidance on web development, tools, and ways to participate in building digital services. Through these resources, the community helps its users publish information, collaborate, and communicate online using open-source software and infrastructure it operates.
