CIOFF

CIOFF® International, the International Council of Organizations of Folklore Festivals and Folk Arts, is a global non-governmental organization founded in 1970 in Confolens, France. With a presence in 82 countries and six geographical sectors, it works to safeguard, promote, and share traditional culture and intangible cultural heritage. An Official Partner of UNESCO, accredited to the UNESCO Committee for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage, CIOFF® supports traditions including music, dance, rituals, and crafts.

The organization connects national sections, folklore groups, festivals, and cultural communities through international cooperation and exchange. Its work includes supporting folklore festivals and groups, facilitating cultural participation, and promoting events such as the World Folkloriada. CIOFF® also develops youth initiatives and activities that encourage younger generations to engage with living traditions and cultural diversity. Its network includes more than 500 folklore groups, over 55,000 amateur artists, and more than 298 festivals, including events dedicated to children. Through festivals and intercultural dialogue, CIOFF® aims to foster mutual respect, friendship, and peace while helping traditions reach new audiences.
