About Strathmore CIPIT
The Centre for Intellectual Property and Information Technology Law (CIPIT), affiliated with Strathmore University, is a pioneering think tank and training center established in 2012. Led by Dr. Isaac Rutenberg, CIPIT focuses on providing evidence-based research and specialized training in intellectual property (IP) and information technology (IT) law and policy. With Kenya advancing towards its middle-income aspirations by 2030, CIPIT responds to the growing demand for knowledge in IP within local businesses, entrepreneurs, and government agencies.
The Centre's work encompasses research on vital issues, including ICT and media law, cybersecurity regulation, and the valuation and trading of IP assets. CIPIT's team comprises local and global research experts, supported by a network of partners. In addition to research, CIPIT offers fellowships, training courses in data protection, AI and IP, and organizes events to foster knowledge sharing.
