CipSoft is an independent German game developer and operator based in Regensburg, where it has been creating online games for more than 20 years. Founded by four people after the success of Tibia, the company has grown to a team of more than 100 employees. Tibia, launched in 1997, is one of the earliest massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPGs) and remains a central part of CipSoft’s portfolio.
The studio also created TibiaME, described as the first mobile online role-playing game, and operates the browser game The Settlers Online. Its current development projects include Persist Online, a zombie-themed MMORPG. CipSoft develops and runs its games, supports their communities, and provides related services, including the MultiPayer payment system used by The Settlers Online.
The company shares news about game updates, playtests, and its work through its website. From its origins as a student hobby project, CipSoft has become an established game company while continuing to build and operate online worlds for players
