Circolo Vela Mare

Vela Mare is a sailing school and sailing club based in Viareggio, in the province of Lucca, Italy. Teaching sailing since 1996, the organisation welcomes people who want to learn, build confidence on the water or take part in sailing activities. Its courses cover cabin cruisers and dinghies, alongside safety and navigation theory, preparation for recreational boating licences for travel within and beyond 12 nautical miles, and training for prospective instructors. Members can also join the club through its membership programme.

Vela Mare organises or co-organises regattas and takes part in events with sailing crews. It shares race schedules, participant lists and results, and provides access to the boats used by its school and for racing. For those interested in longer experiences at sea, the organisation offers summer sailing camps, Mediterranean sailing weeks, weekend trips and holiday cruises. Its programme also includes activities with WWF. Vela Mare publishes news and event updates through its website and newsletter, helping participants stay informed about courses, regattas and departures.
