CIRGIS

The Channel Islands Regional GIS Collaborative (CIRGIS) is a nonprofit organization that has supported governments and businesses in California’s Central Coast region through collaborative geospatial projects and services since 2000. It serves Santa Barbara, Ventura, and San Luis Obispo counties and brings together geographic information systems professionals and enthusiasts to share knowledge and advance regional GIS work.

CIRGIS organizes aerial imagery projects, educational programs, bi-monthly meetings, and special events. Its work includes imagery initiatives and data sharing, helping regional organizations and practitioners connect around geospatial information. The collaborative also provides a geographic hub for the local GIS community, with opportunities to learn, exchange ideas, and participate in activities such as meetings and spatial lightning talks.

CIRGIS publishes news and announcements, including job postings, event details, and calls for posters, and shares information about recent projects. Its website features project and data resources, including a 2020 imagery project, alongside information about the organization and its programs. Through these services and community activities, CIRGIS fosters collaboration among GIS users across the region.
